PRP Facials (aka Vampire Facials) are wasting your time and money but there are better and SMARTER options available. Here, we talk about what using your own blood is less than ideal and what are ideal options.
I don't love PRP facials and let me tell you why.
What is the PRP Facial? Your blood is drawn and spun to separate out your platelets and this fluid is then micro-needled into your skin. It is supposed to massively rejuvenate your skin but is it worth it?
Micro-needling deeper than .5mm isn't worthwhile for anyone. Study after study has shown that deep and aggressive micro-needling carries more risk and shows no better result than nano-needling at .25mm (which is what we do at Skin Memory Spa).
Now, let's talk BLOOD. Is blood equal? No. One of the biggest issues for using our own blood for this treatment is that it is OUR BLOOD. Few of us are at optimal health and our labs show that - maybe some high triglycerides, maybe a vitamin B deficiency, a zinc deficiency... maybe we take medications for pain management or anxiety. This IMPACTS the quality of blood and platelets used for PRP.
Your overall HEALTH, AGE, and DIET are a critical component for a successful PRP facial.
Now, would I want to use my own blood to treat my skin? Sounds great in theory but, do I have a high score with cardio vascular health? EH. I don't work out all the time, I don't eat a perfect diet. I have too much diet soda and sugar and I take a bunch of vitamins because I am 50 and my labs aren't perfect. So... no, I don't want to use my mediocre, Diet MT Dew loving, blood with high stress cortisol levels for an expensive facial.
BOTTOM LINE: Unless you're an Olympian in training and 20 years old, don't use your own blood.
So why do med spas do it? A centrifuge to spin blood can be bought for $100 bucks easy (yes I priced it out), needles are cheap and did you know that Virginia has no requirement for someone to be a phlebotomist to draw blood - so that med spa receptionist can moonlight as the taker of blood. This costs the spa almost NOTHING. Then they charge you a cool $1200 for a subpar treatment.
(PS. In our NoVa area, the cost of a PRP Facial ranges from about $800-$1400, yes I checked.)
What to do then? STEM CELLS!
Why use your taco bell (I just had that for dinner lol) loving blood when you can use the best of the best?
Our Skin Memory Stem Cell Cocktail is as smart as it comes!
A nano-needling session that is essentially pain-free with virtually no downtime.
Use of Korean, French and US made stem cells -- ranging from synthetic, human bone stem cell derived, umbilical stem cell derived and plant stem cell derived.
On top of that, we can mix in other amazing DNA boosters like PDRN (from Salmon), potent antioxidants, amino acids and more. On top of that we can add in topical peptides acting like tox and topically infused filler. I mean, talk about the secret to celebrity skin. If this treatment was at a med spas, it would be hitting $1500 or more per session.
Best part is, our Stem Cell Cocktail is safe, HIGHLY effective, the HIGHEST quality of materials used, and is HALF the cost of a MEDSPA doling out subpar PRP facials.
Let's do the smart thing with our money and skin!
