The Acne Most People Don’t Think is Acne.

The Acne Most People Don’t Think is Acne.

There are literally dozens of types of acne bacteria. Some create more redness and inflammation than others. A common type of acne I see is this kind - small, closed, not inflamed.

A lot of my clients don't realize that this is actually acne. Closed comedones - this type of pimple - are deeper pockets of congestion. Unlike a whitehead, with its angry pus filled top, these are not inflamed with pus but are full of dead, dry skin, oil, and dirt. They can linger for months and often eventually form a cyst.

Hard to extract, and you don't want to, these are caused from a wide range of issues including makeup, dry skin, over exfoliated skin, hair products, smoking, and more.

Just because it isn't red and angry, doesn't mean it isnt acne.

This type of acne takes a while to resolve. I won't lie about that. To clear this out, the skin will purge and it will be a rough 2-3 weeks but, then your skin starts to look smooth and wonderful.

To manage the purge from this deep congestion, in-clinic appts are essential and ideally are done every 3 weeks for about 2-3 months.

Proper homecare is essential to manage your skin's biome and reduce the proliferation of bacteria. One of my FAVORITE products for this type of acne is ROCCOCO'S CLARIFYING C SERUM. It reduces congestion in skin up to 75% in 2 MONTHS.

I recommend new acne clients book a free consultation and existing acne clients, our 90 MIN Healing and Restorative Treatment is that perfect multi-method plan of attack.
