Our non-profit released a short film showcasing the words of the girls in our care in Kabul. Barred from education, employment and health care, girls and women in Afghanistan have a lower legal status than a cow and this is the aftermath of the US withdrawal, leaving the Taliban to rule with utter cruelty.
For the last year, our non profit (Our Culture is Giving) partnered with a local theater group, Precipice Theater Team, to share stories from the women and girls my org cares for in Afghanistan.
The girls in our care in Kabul, Afghanistan wrote every single word here.
This short film is a way to share their words, stories and engage people to see them, hear them and hopefully, advocate for them.
If you are not aware of the work my non profit does, you can visit us online and read about some of the work we do.
The girls we care for have survived unspeakable acts and have spent months working on writing and art projects to build what you see here.
I am so profoundly proud of the recovery the women and children have made while in our care. The odds are not in their favor but, we believe awareness creates advocacy, art creates compassion.
Thank you,
Leslie
