Dogwood trees (and their flowers) can withstand harsh conditions, representing strength and resilience. There is a Cherokee legend of the Dogwood People, who were tiny little beings similar to the European concept of fairies and brownies.
These stealthy beings lived in the forest where they quietly helped humans learn to live in harmony with the trees. They secretly performed random acts of kindness without recognition.
End story- I might need to make this necklace my new uniform because what a lovely reminder of what we can weather and more importantly, how we can reach out to help.
