Atami is located in the far eastern corner of Shizuoka Prefecture at the northern end of Izu Peninsula. The city is on the steep slopes of a partially submerged volcanic caldera on the edge of Sagami Bay.
The name "Atami" literally means "hot ocean," a reference to the town's famous hot springs. Atami bath powder is described as smelling like “fresh fruits & flowers, mountains, and the refreshing sea”, and when melted, turns the bath water into a transparent reddish-orange color.
Like all hot springs, healing properties are attributed to the compounds found in the water, from relieving eczema to lowering your blood pressure, making hot spring bathing a healthy way to relax.
Dissolve in hot water of the bath while stirring well. Please use the outer cap (the lower line on the inside is about 30 g) for measuring.
